Our flagship 7-month program helps high-potential professionals strengthen leadership fundamentals, expand their network, and achieve measurable growth — all with a schedule that fits the demands of busy leaders.

Each participant experiences a powerful blend of peer learning, leadership development, and one-on-one coaching, designed to create lasting impact.

Duration: 7 months (approx. 2 hours per month)
Peer Sessions:
5 group sessions (every six weeks)
Coaching:
5 individual sessions between group meetings

John Rooney

Founder

John Rooney is the founder of Emerging Leaders Group, bringing together 30 years of corporate leadership, coaching expertise, and career-development experience to help organizations unleash the full potential of their rising leaders. John’s career has been uniquely shaped by work in three interconnected worlds: Fortune 500 business, graduate business education, and leadership coaching. He began his career in brand management and marketing with Chevron and Georgia-Pacific, leading iconic brands and high-stakes commercial initiatives. Those years taught him how high-potential leaders directly shape culture, performance, and bottom-line results. For nearly two decades at the University of Notre Dame and now as the Executive Director of Graduate Business Career Services at the Wisconsin School of Business, John has coached and developed thousands of emerging leaders. He has led large teams, built employer partnerships across the country, and designed development programs that consistently produced record career outcomes. At Emerging Leaders Group, John integrates all of that experience—corporate execution, human-centered coaching, and strategic career development—to help organizations build their next generation of leaders. His approach is grounded in a simple belief: when emerging leaders grow, companies transform. Through peer learning cohorts, one-on-one coaching, and practical leadership frameworks, he helps leaders increase self-awareness, navigate complexity, and deliver meaningful impact for their teams and organizations.

Omari Leggett

Partner

Omari Leggett is a global marketing executive and leadership strategist with nearly 25 years of experience leading brand growth, organizational transformation, and leadership development. His career includes key roles at Nike, Inc. and as Vice President of Global Marketing at Beats Electronics, where he helped shape the brand into a global cultural icon ahead of its acquisition by Apple Inc. Previously, Omari founded Penciled Consulting, advising Fortune 100 companies and startups on marketing strategy, organizational design, and leadership growth. Recognized for his ability to connect business strategy with human potential, he helps leaders and teams gain the clarity, confidence, and capability to perform at their best. Omari holds a BBA from Howard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, along with professional coaching certifications (PCC, PCP, ELI-MP). Liz Ruttenberg

Director of Marketing & Customer Success, Emerging Leaders Group

Liz Ruttenberg brings more than two decades of experience leading marketing, education, and customer engagement initiatives across healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, and digital innovation sectors. Her career is defined by a commitment to elevating people-centered programs, strengthening brand presence, and designing learning experiences that create measurable impact. Before joining Emerging Leaders Group, Liz served in a strategic education and recruitment role at University Hospitals, where she advanced high-impact learning initiatives and strengthened engagement through innovative digital and DEI programming. She previously led Marketing & Strategic Initiatives at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), shaping statewide brand identity and expanding access to health careers through partnerships, digital campaigns, and high-engagement events. Liz’s background also includes leadership roles in digital consulting, nonprofit technology, women’s sports advocacy, and special-education services. Across organizations like Paragon Consulting, DonorPoint, the Women’s Sports Foundation, Wingspan Care Group, and American Greetings, she built deep expertise in strategic storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and customer success. At Emerging Leaders Group, Liz leads all marketing, brand strategy, and customer experience efforts—ensuring clients and participants feel supported, engaged, and empowered from their first interaction through the full lifecycle of the program.
